Caldarola is a centre of considerable pastoral and historical interest, known for its outstanding Pallotta Castle that rises majestic and overlooks the town with impressive walls and original drawbridge, next to a century-old pine tree. Over the last few years Caldarola has undergone a lot of restoration and today travellers can enjoy its most popular draws- its five castles, the Town Hall building which comprises the beautiful "stanza del paradiso (the heaven room) whose frecoe work is attributed to the local painter Simone de Magistris, the stone buildings in and around the town, its churches, the lovely and lively theatre, its cobble roads and beautiful scenic square. In the summer it holds many events going back centuries, the bars and restaurants serve excellent food at very affordable prices, you can get all your food shopping here it has a butchers, cheese specialist, wine merchant which sells local wines and local made biscuits, honey, olive oil deli-shop, grocers, barbers, tobacconist/ newspaper, chemist and a choice of fruit and veg shops, ice cream parlor and last but not least outdoor weekly market on Fridays. In the surrounding area the small townships of Croce and Vestignano, Pieve Favera and Vestignano with ancient castles dating back to the 9th century immersed in pristine scenery.
